The Image of God (Tselem Elohim) is the gift that God gave us upon creation. We recognize in others that image of God, and so we pursue each other that we can be enriched as we do life together. All of God’s interaction with hinges upon the implantation of His image (We are created of the dust of the earth like every other living thing and then infused with breath or Spirit of God so that we then become a living soul. — Gen 1:26-27). We are therefore valued because we were created for God’s pleasure as much as humans create their children from their pleasure, so they can enjoy the children as gifts and emblems of their love. Each person is a gift and emblem of God’s love.
